Rules & Safety
Safe Riders Have More Fun
Everything you agree to before you launch — the ride rules, the waiver, the damage policy, and the dockside checklist our crew walks every rider through. No surprises at the dock.
Rules on the Water
These apply to every rider, on every ride. Break them and your session ends — no refund.
Operate sober at all times — 0.00 BAC.
Wear the provided PFD and keep the kill-switch lanyard attached at all times.
Remember: no brakes, and you need throttle to steer. Allow ample stopping distance.
Maintain safe speed and keep at least 100 m from shore, swimmers, and other vessels.
No wake-jumping, splashing, racing, or following directly behind other watercraft.
Stay within the designated riding area and obey all no-wake zones and dock staff instructions.
Only the named operator may operate the watercraft; no towing of persons or objects.
Return on time — late return is $50 per 10 minutes — and report any incident immediately.
The Dockside Safety Checklist
Before any machine leaves the dock, our crew completes this Transport Canada-aligned checklist with you. It takes about 12 minutes and covers everything a first-timer needs.
Rider tips
- • You will get wet — wear a swimsuit or board shorts, no loose clothing.
- • There are no brakes, and you need throttle to steer — releasing the throttle removes steering and the machine keeps moving.
- • If you fall off, the engine cuts automatically via the lanyard. Climb back on from the rear step.
- • Never apply throttle when someone is at the rear of the craft.
- • Keep at least 100 metres between yourself and the shore, swimmers, and other riders.
- • Look where you want to go — the machine follows your eyes.
- • Slow down before turns; throttle out of them. Do not jump wakes or waves.
The Waiver You'll Sign
Every rider signs this electronically right after booking — here's the full text so you know exactly what you're agreeing to before you pay.
1. Definitions & Parties
In this agreement, the "Released Parties" means Aqua6ix Rentals and its owners, directors, officers, employees, dock staff, instructors, agents, contractors, suppliers, successors, heirs and assigns. The "Activities" means renting, boarding, operating, and riding a personal watercraft (jet ski), together with instruction, fuelling, loading and unloading, and travel to and from the riding area. "I", "me", and "renter" mean the person signing below, on my own behalf and on behalf of every member of my party.
2. Express Assumption of Risk
I acknowledge that operating and riding a personal watercraft is inherently dangerous and involves significant risks, both known and unknown. These risks include, but are not limited to:
3. Voluntary Participation
I freely accept and fully assume all of these risks, dangers, and hazards, and the possibility of personal injury, death, property damage, or loss resulting from them — whether caused by the negligence of the Released Parties or otherwise. I have informed, and am responsible for, every member of my party, including their conduct and safety. I confirm that neither I nor anyone in my party has consumed alcohol or drugs before this activity, and that we will not do so during the rental.
4. Release of Liability & Waiver of Claims
In consideration of being permitted to participate, I hereby release, discharge, and hold harmless the Released Parties from any and all claims, actions, demands, or losses for personal injury (physical and mental), property damage, wrongful death, or other loss arising out of the Activities, including travel to and from the riding area. This release applies to any negligence, act, or omission of the Released Parties, including any duty of care owed under the Occupiers' Liability Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. O.2. I AGREE THAT I WILL NOT SUE OR MAKE ANY CLAIM against the Released Parties, AND I WAIVE ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, known or unknown, that I have now or may have in the future, DUE TO ANY CAUSE WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE, BREACH OF CONTRACT, OR BREACH OF ANY STATUTORY OR OTHER DUTY OF CARE.
5. Indemnification & Hold Harmless
I agree to indemnify and hold the Released Parties harmless from any claim, loss, damage, cost, or expense — including legal fees and the costs of enforcing this agreement — brought by me or by any third party as a result of my use or operation of the watercraft. This agreement is binding on my heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators, assigns, and personal representatives in the event of my injury or death.
6. Declaration of Medical Fitness & Authorization
I declare that I am physically fit to operate a personal watercraft and have no condition — such as epilepsy, blackouts, heart or lung disease, high blood pressure, recent back or spinal injury, diabetes, or any other condition — that would make participation unsafe. Even if I have an undisclosed condition, by signing I still choose to participate. I consent to emergency medical treatment if needed and understand that any medical costs are my own responsibility or that of my insurer. I represent that I carry adequate insurance, and I agree that the Released Parties will not pay any medical cost or expense incurred by me or my party.
7. Responsibility for the Watercraft & Damage Charges
I am responsible for the proper care and safe operation of the watercraft and all equipment supplied during the rental, and will return everything in the same condition I received it. I will be present for a damage inspection with Aqua6ix staff both before and after the ride, and will photograph any existing dents or marks before launch. I authorize Aqua6ix Rentals to place and charge a $500 security/damage hold per machine on my credit card, and to charge me for all repair or replacement costs caused by my use, as determined by Aqua6ix Rentals. This security hold does NOT limit my liability — I remain fully responsible for the cost of any severe damage or total loss that exceeds it. HST applies to all damage and additional charges. Charge schedule (examples; final amounts per actual repair/replacement cost):
8. No Chargebacks
I agree that any attempt to dispute, reverse, or charge back any payment related to damages, rental fees, the security hold, or any other charge under this agreement will entitle Aqua6ix Rentals to pursue legal action, including a claim in court, to recover all outstanding amounts, fees, and associated costs as reflected in this agreement and the rental policy.
9. Riding Rules
I have read, understand, and agree to follow these rules. I understand that breaking any of them entitles Aqua6ix Rentals to withhold the deposit, charge for damages, and end the rental immediately:
10. Eligibility & Operator Requirements
I confirm that the operator is at least 18 years of age, will present valid government-issued photo ID at check-in, and either holds a Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) or will complete the Transport Canada Rental Boat Safety Checklist at the dock (issued as the Temporary Rental Operator Agreement). Any additional person who will operate the watercraft must be named on this agreement, meet the same age and licence requirement, and present valid photo ID at check-in. I understand sufficient English to follow all safety and operational instructions, which are given in English only.
11. Weather, Cancellation & Refunds
Aqua6ix Rentals may cancel, refuse, shorten, or reschedule a rental when weather or water conditions are unsafe — including high or gusting winds, storms, lightning, or large waves. In that case, rental fees are prorated to the time used or applied to a rescheduled booking. All other cancellations and refunds are governed by the Aqua6ix booking and cancellation policy in effect at the time of booking.
12. Incident Reporting
Any accident, injury, or incident during the rental must be reported to Aqua6ix staff immediately, at the time it occurs, and documented in writing and signed by both me and an Aqua6ix representative to be valid. No claim, complaint, or report made after the rental has ended will be accepted under any circumstances.
13. Photo / Video Consent
I consent to Aqua6ix Rentals using photos and videos taken during my rental for marketing purposes, unless I opt out in writing before my ride.
14. Entire Agreement & Governing Law
This agreement is the entire understanding between me and Aqua6ix Rentals; I am not relying on any oral or written representation not set out here. It is governed by and interpreted under the laws of the Province of Ontario, and any litigation must be brought within Ontario. I acknowledge that the Marine Liability Act, S.C. 2001, c. 6 may limit the liability of the Released Parties in accidents resulting in injury or death. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. I agree that my electronic signature is the legally binding equivalent of a handwritten signature and that a copy of this agreement will be emailed to me.
Damage Policy & Fees
A $500 credit card hold is taken per machine at check-in and fully released after your ride if the machine comes back clean. If something does happen, these are the costs:
